Summer Trails Camp

“Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment.”

With new and exciting field trips, each day, within Summit County and in the surrounding areas, Summer Trails not only teaches the children independence and confidence about their physical abilities, but also about the history, geography, ecology and the community. The camp is arranged into the different themes below, giving the children plenty of time to play, explore and create new adventures.

Our Ecology Unit: will focus on nature and environment. The students will learn about the relationships between living organisms and their surroundings as well as different ecosystems, visiting places like the Fairy Caves in Glenwood, Denver Botanical Gardens and more!

Our History Unit: Will focus on Colorado mining and pioneering that dates back nearly 13,000 years. They will enjoy visiting places like the Natural History Museum, The Country Boy Mine, and the Leadville Mining Museum!

Our Community Unit: Will focus on our volunteers, helpers, and what’s around us, visiting the Fire Station, Betty Ford Gardens and the Zoo! There will also be a Summer Fun week, where we will do nothing but PLAY at places like Splash and the Buena Vista Creamery!
